GENERAL CIRCULAR NUMBER 02 OF 2014

Listed below are matters for your information and attention:
SCHOOL DISMISSAL TIMES FOR WEDNESDAY 26TH MARCH 2014, THURSDAY 27TH MARCH 2014 & FRIDAY 28TH MARCH 2014 – (LAST DAY OF THE 1ST TERM):
1.1. Kindly be informed that the Cycle Test Programme continues until Thursday 27th March 2014. Learners must be present to write these tests. Learners who stay absent without a valid reason will forfeit their marks for staying absent.
1.2. The dismissal times for Learners is as follows:

2.1. The Second Term commences on Monday 07th April 2014 and terminates on Friday 04th July 2014. Kindly observe that the term has been extended by one week. The Third Term will therefore commence on Wednesday 30th July 2014.
2.2.Please take note of the Public Holidays in April. Besides the Easter Weekend Holidays the
Department has also closed school from Monday 28th April 2014 to Friday 02nd May 2014
(2 Public Holidays in the week).
“CAPS – NEW PROMOTION REQUIREMENTS”:
The “CAPS” Curriculum comes into full effect as from this year.
3.1. GRADE ONE TO GRADE 3 – (PROMOTION REQUIREMENTS):
3.1.1. Adequate Achievement (Level 4 – 50% – 59%) in English Home Language.
3.1.2. Moderate Achievement (Level 3 = 40% – 49%) Afrikaans First Additional Language.
3.1.3. Moderate Achievement Level 3 = 40% – 49%) in Maths.
3.2. GRADE 4 TO GRADE 6:
3.2.1. Adequate Achievement (Level 4 = 50% – 59%) in English Home Language.
3.2.2. Moderate Achievement (Level 3 = 40% – 49%) in Afrikaans First Additional Language.
3.2.3. Moderate Achievement (Level 3 = 40% – 49%) in Maths.
3.2.4 Moderate Achievement (Level 3 = 40% – 49%) in any two of the remaining subjects.
3.3. GRADE 7 TO GRADE 9:
3.3.1. Adequate Achievement (Level 4 = 50% – 59%) in English Home Language.
3.3.2. Moderate Achievement (Level 3 = 40% – 49%) in Afrikaans First Additional Language.
3.3.3. Moderate Achievement (Level 3 = 40% – 49%) in Maths.
3.3.4. Moderate Achievement (level 3 = 40% – 49%) in any three of the required subjects.
3.3.5. Elementary Achievement (Level 2 = 30% – 39% in any two of the required subjects.
[The School Based Assessment is a compulsory component of the Promotion Mark: The School Based Assessment component must be 40% and the Final Exams 60%].
3.3.6. The F.E.T. Phase i.e. Grade 10 to Grade 12 the Promotion Requirements remain the same i.e. 40% for all subjects and 4 Subjects excluding Life Orientation at 50% to obtain a Bachelors Pass.
Dear Parents a very humble and earnest appeal is made to you to ensure that your child is properly attired in the school uniform. The problem of uniforms usually appears when the cold weather sets in. We have a prescribed winter uniform. Learners will not be allowed multi-coloured tops, tracksuits, jerseys, etc. The School Jersey or Bomber Jacket is available at Concorde Outfitters opposite Saloojee”s Book Centre
5.1. Learners who are keen to participate in the Speech Contest (Primary and High) must ensure that they research their topics during the holidays and be ready for the Internal Speech Contest.
5.2. The tentative dates for the Internal Speech Contest is as follows:
5.2.1. Primary School – Tuesday 15th April 2014.
5.2.2. High School – Wednesday 16th April 2014.

Parents, fees for the first term are due. It will be highly appreciated if all outstanding fees are paid by Wednesday 26th March 2014. Once again we make a humble appeal that fees should be paid at the beginning of each term.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to say JAZAKALLAH to those parents who have come to the school to discuss issues related to not only the Academic aspects but have also put forward constructive suggestions for improving the general ethos of our school.
